Remember your Child in Expecting Sunshine Memoir

About a year ago I asked if anyone wants their child’s name commemorated in my memoir, Expecting Sunshine: A heartwarming journey of grief, healing and pregnancy after loss.

This is the final call for names!

I am just finalizing the contract for publishing my book and soon the manuscript will be off with the publisher! It has been such a long process to get to this point, but I am so excited!

Just to show how long the publishing process really is on a book:

  • I wrote my memoir about my pregnancy after loss in 2011-2012.
  • Editing it ever since, both on my own and with professional editors.
  • Searched for an agent.
  • Found an agent.
  • Agent pitched my book to the big publishers.
  • Big publishers replied: wonderfully written book BUT the subject matter is too risky for us.
  • Lamented the fact that this risky topic is so important for women and families.
  • Amicably parted ways with the agent.
  • Searched for a publisher on my own.
  • Decided to self-publish.
  • Found a hybrid publisher who loves the book.
  • Contract negotiations…
  • Which brings us today, FIVE (5!!!!) years later!

Like I said, about a year ago I asked if anyone wanted their child’s name remembered in my book. I have a scene where I read the names on the sidewalk during the Walk to Remember memorial event. Instead of listing fake names, I felt like this would be a really special way to remember REAL and IMPORTANT babies that matter in the world. I want to celebrate the children that touched our hearts and continue to live there.

If you want your child’s name included, please comment with the name below. I will be getting in touch with everyone ASAP about this by email, confirming spelling and asking for permission in writing to include each child’s name.

Thank you to those that would like to participate in this.

Also, for those of you that do not know, I am filming a documentary called Expecting Sunshine: The truth about pregnancy after loss. This film companions my memoir and will be a powerful testament to the struggle of loss and the challenges of the pregnancies that follow.

The documentary is still fundraising to meet our goal. If you are able, please consider donating. We have about $5K to go which will help us spread the word on this RISKY but incredibly MEANINGFUL topic. Please join with me and contribute. Thank you so much!

Sincerely,

Alexis Marie Chute

P.s. If you want another way to remember your child, please contact me about participating in Celebrating Sweeties. Send a photo if you have one along with your child’s name and birthday to be added. You can also submit your story for a guest blog post by clicking here.

My little boy was born sleeping at 20 weeks. My husband and I had brought our 2 older girls (ages 4 & 2) to the ultrasound to see their little brother kicking and wiggling in Mommy’s belly, instead, we found out that his little heart had stopped beating. He was our 4th loss.
I’m now pregnant again, another boy. I am 27 weeks and every anxiously awaiting his arrival. I count every day that he is still with me as a blessing!

      Hi Megan,

Thank you so much for sharing a bit of your journey with me and the community here on Wanted Chosen Planned. I am so sorry to hear about your losses. Four babies… I’d love to know how you got through. My heart goes out to you.

I am sending all my love, strength and health for you and your baby on the way. I hope and pray everything goes smoothly. I understand that anxiousness you are feeling. I have been there, my friend! You have a wonderful approach, though. Every day is a blessing, every moment you carry your child is a precious gift. I know you know this all too well.

I will be in touch by email about including your precious four babes in my memoir. Thank you for including them.

      Sincerely,

      – Alexis Marie Chute
